Player-owned businesses need more than owners. Visit businesses, meet the people running them and ask in city for the latest job opportunities.
BUSINESS
OWNERSHIP TERMS.
Owning a business gives you the opportunity to create something that becomes part of everyday life in Rift. It also comes with expectations.
All newly approved businesses begin with a 30-day probation period. Staff may review activity, management, community contribution and compliance with business and economy rules. Continued inactivity or serious issues may result in extended probation, requested changes or the business being returned to the state.
Businesses should contribute to the wider Rift community. Owners are encouraged to organize or participate in at least one community event each month. The point isn't to tick a box - it's to give people reasons to interact with your business.
Owning a legitimate business does not prevent your character from participating in criminal roleplay. Serious criminal activity connected to the owner or business may create in-character consequences, including investigation, restrictions or state seizure in serious circumstances.
Businesses cannot be privately sold, gifted or transferred to another player without approval. Depending on the circumstances, a business may return to the state, reopen for applications or transfer to an approved successor.
Real life comes first. Temporary inactivity is not a problem, particularly where staff have been informed. However, businesses should not remain indefinitely unavailable while an inactive player continues to hold ownership. Communication matters.
Business accounts, stock, storage and other business assets belong to the business. Owners may not deliberately drain funds, remove significant stock or transfer assets to themselves or friends immediately before leaving ownership.

Make sure the business does not already have an active owner before completing this application. If you're unsure, ask in city or contact staff first.

Have an idea that would add something new to Rift? Tell us what you want to create, why the city needs it and what it gives other players to do.
Take a look at the businesses already established in Rift. New proposals should bring something worthwhile to the city rather than simply duplicate an existing business. If your idea requires a custom property, MLO or other paid asset, you must be open to funding the property required for your proposal. Do not purchase any property, MLO or paid asset until it has been reviewed and cleared by the server owners and development team.
